Dear Captains:
After 211 games - our 2011 Regular Season Standings - it's been decided ... our last week of the season was almost a wash as it rained all Monday and it was all makeup games. The Brewsters brought their lipstick, winning their last 2 games. The Avengers gave the Raiders a tough battle. The Burgies win a wild one over The Smurfs. Adrenaline look ready to rumble as well. Another long and wild season put to bed. Good luck all on the weekend!
Congratulations to the overall Champions – The Raiders - with a perfect season in 2011 (18-0) improving on their near-perfect result last year of (17-1). Who’s on First is almost in 1st !!! The Average Joes – what can we say about them – they are no longer AVERAGE – but well ABOVE average! Adrenaline on pace and the Manchester Brewers – again the “sleeper” team that no question have the talent to cause upset!!!
I could write all day about how fantastic a season it was, how great you all played, congratulations to you all, too many to mention, hence only the top 5 teams...
Please find your Final Standings for the 2011 Season & your Play-Off Schedule! On the heels of last year’s tournament success, we are planning for what will be the most spectacular Year-End Tournament ever!! Good luck all - - should be a classic!!!
Tournament rules and details attached again (in case you missed it on Monday) and here is your Super Saturday DAY 1 PLAYOFF Schedule for our 2011 Year-End Tournament! Are you ready for the weekend? In just a few days you will be forcefully violated by Clash of the Titans ...The Clash begins on bright and early Saturday morning! Let's all have a blast! New in 2011 - Bottom halves of innings of games already won will NOT be played for run differential - so score early and let's all be good sports. New in 2011 - Home and Away – each and every game will be decided by a coin flip (Super Saturday only). Please be reminded that there is a game mercy rule of 15 runs after 5 innings or more (4 1/2 if the home team is ahead) for our playoffs.
A couple of reminder notes:
Our league specifically prohibits the use of subs. Players must be in the batting order to play the game. No player can be added to the line-up once the batting order has gone through top to bottom. This makes it crystal clear that players cannot be left on the bench to be subs later and this also means that you CANNOT use the "replacement player" rule, since it only applies to players not in the line-up. Players removed from a line-up may NOT re-enter a game.
Again, all (but one) teams will play 3 games on Day 1 Super Saturday, the results will dictate Day 2 – Championship Sunday. Please be patient, we will contact you - but after the last game is played (after 10 PM), and so, if you do not or are unable to remain to support your friends and your fellow teams until the late hours of Saturday evening, we’ll let you know. Again, as with regular season standings, we will not know where your team stands until the last game is played. In some cases, we’ll have very good idea, but not concrete until that final game! Please again, be patient!
Day 2 – Championship Sunday, as always, is single elimination. Not all will advance, but please encourage your players to remain until the Championship Rounds/Games. Please bring out your families and pets (both big days), show your support and cheer on your friends and finalists and be part of the trophy and award presentation Sunday evening!
May the following teams please remain to the end of our tournament for your award presentation:
· Manchester Brewers · Rebels · Team What? · The Smurfs
Please also drink responsibility and be reminded that ANY & ALL proceeds will go to pay for our tournament purchases, vendor, rentals – over-and-above food costs.
As BorderTown ends its 22nd regular season, we thank you for your support. It truly means so much to us. Welcome officially to your schedule for our 22nd Annual Border Town Year-End Tournament this Saturday and Sunday, September 24th & 25th.
WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO BE VERY GOOD – mild strong temperatures and sunshine both days!!
