NEW SCHEDULE - see the new make-up games for the RAINED OUT games

WEEK 13 RESULTS IN

Well we are past the halfway point and we still have 2 undefeated teams. Something will break next week when the Average Joes and the Raiders clash in the much anticipated clash of juggernauts. Speaking of which, the reigning champs X-Men almost handed the undefeated Joes a loss.  With two outs in the bottom of the last inning, the tying and winning runs on base, on the first pitch, Bishop swung and missed and Prof. X leads off for the final out ... of all things. The MIG Giants winning streak ends at six. Frenemies - The Smurfs and the Island Boys - have virtually identical .500 records. The Island Boys laid a beating this week scoring 30 runs. Who's On First sneak into 3rd place as several top teams lose last week. Adrenaline are humble and modest hiding their menacing killer spirit.

BTSPL NEWS July 22, 2011 - WEEK 12 RESULTS IN

Who will beat the mighty Average Joes and the Raiders? Guess they'll have to beat each other. The X-Men are lurking in the weeds after barely edging the Avengers in a classic game in the latest showdown of superheroes. Team What fades in the heat after winning first game of a double dip. The Brewers are powering up and are one league insiders pick for the title. The rising Basterds give Adrenaline a scare.

BTSPL NEWS July 18, 2011 - MAKE-UP games for the RAINED OUT games

In an effort to keep our costs down and above all, to appease our family of teams, we will open August 1st (which is a Civic Holiday and not a Statutory Holiday). We have received our approvals from the City of Mississauga to do so, and so we are in the process of scheduling rain-out games on this day.

Again, Monday, August 1st – both South Common & Fleetwood will be treated as a regular season play-day.

We’ll be in touch with a Make-Up/Rain-Out schedule using:

1.     Monday, August 1st, at both South Common & Fleetwood (regular season for both divisions);

2.     Meadowvale Sports Park (Saturday, AUG. 20th) for West Division; and,

3.     Mississauga Valleys (Saturday, AUG. 13th) for East Division.

BTSPL NEWS July 15, 2011 - WEEK 11 RESULTS IN

Raiders and Average Joes still rule the roast. Can't wait for the big showdown. We had a rare default and a rare tie this week. The Rueful Rabbits win in dramatic fashion with a last inning walk-off homerun by Bobby Cowan. The Smurfs beat the Jox 4 to 3 - what did that take half an hour? The Giants on a five game winning streak. Adrenaline beat the Brewsters in a mighty showdown.

BTSPL NEWS July 8, 2011 - WEEK 10 RESULTS IN

Thanks to all who attended the 6th Annual All-Star game, it was a great night. Special thanks to the Average Joes and Rebels for their great support, and all who helped with the contests. The Joes and Raiders still hold top spot after an off week. The Brewsters are charging hard only 1 game behind. Several teams have a 5-2 record. The Island Boys rally to steal a win from The Smurfs in a classic showdown. MIG Giants on a roll after a slow start.

BTSPL NEWS July 1st, 2011 (Happy Canada Day!!) - WEEK 9 RESULTS IN

Raiders and Average Joes continue their reign of terror over Bordertown. Lots of movement in the top ten this week. Brewsters charge into 3rd place. Several teams tied with 4-2 records. CB3 pays a visit to the mighty East and get swept in a doubleheader and tumble from 3rd place. Two teams mark their first wins. The Rabbits are regretful this week. The Burgies looking good, and MIG rebounding from slow start. The Basterds win their first ever game defeating the Rebels in the "Battle of 1812", winning 18 to 12.

BTSPL NEWS June 27, 2011

The BIG NITE is almost here - WE WANT YOU THERE

Next Tuesday Nite! MVP all Star Game and Skills Competition Tuesday, July 5 Fleetwood Park!

BTSPL NEWS June 24, 2011 - WEEK 8 RESULTS IN

In a mighty clash of superheroes the uncanny X-Men tame Thor, Hulk and the other Avengers in big win. The Krushers down 8 runs in the 6th inning rally to beat the Sluggers. The Rabbits are remorseful of a loss. Who's On First pull a "Rush" winning 21-12. The Raiders flex their muscle to pull in a tie for first with the Joes at 6-0 each. The Brewsters bottle up the Rebels.

BTSPL NEWS June 17, 2011 - WEEK 7 RESULTS IN

Average Joes generating lots of buzz and still holding off the charging Raiders. Also plan to rock the All-Star Game (Tuesday, July 5). CB3 & X-Men make a move as several top ten teams have bad week. Hot Runners win first game in 2 years - hooray! MIG Giants also get off the goose egg. Krushers mail one in. Blazers score 28 runs - what's up wit dat?  Still a few winless teams; should we create a REC. division?

BTSPL NEWS June 10, 2011 - WEEK 6 RESULTS IN

Really WHO ARE THESE AVERAGE JOES?  They're definitely playing above average.  How long can they hold off the charging Raiders for the lead? The Brewers also undefeated -can they challenge the Elite East? X-Men: Second Class.  Avengers pull off very first Bordertown win. What's wrong with MIG? The Rabbits rue a loss.  Still a few winless teams ... STEP UP TO THE PLATE WILL YOU ?!?!?!

BTSPL NEWS June 3, 2011 - WEEK 5 RESULTS IN

Who are these first-place Average Joes? Raiders on fire. The Smurfs don't look outdated at all. X-Men still stuck on just one win. Avengers just can't get on the field.

BTSPL NEWS May 17, 2011

From: Ava Wojcik

Dear Friends,We just received official word from the City and sounding like a broken record - again, our fields have been cancelled for tonight.  This cancellation is city-wide, applicable to all fields in Mississauga, both minor and major.  Some of you may have seen minor fields open late yesterday (i.e., across from Fleetwood is a minor park named Garnetwood and although unlit was opened late in the day yesterday), not the case today, all fields shut down. http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/sportparks Keeping our fingers crossed for tomorrow – but highly unlikely. Sending to all today to keep you in the loop.  As far as tomorrow, I will send an update to only those teams who are scheduled to play tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18. To all, again, not to worry – we will make up these games sooner or later in the season. Enjoy the Jays or the NHL playoffs this evening!

Sent: May-16-11 1:15 PM

Dear Captains: The City has just pulled the plug re our fields for tonight (Monday, May 16th). The reason I send to everyone is that this scenario may be upheld all week this week.  If there is a decent chance to play (assuming the temperature does not further drop and rain stops allowing fields to drain themselves) – we will, but do know official City word is, all games this week will likely be cancelled (again, not just our fields, but most if not all fields in Mississauga). Friends, wish I had better news to offer you but PLEASE KNOW, ALL IS NOT LOST – I have also just received word based on ongoing discussions, that if we are not able to make up our lost “rain-out” within our parameters (Fleetwood and South Common) other fields in our area will be made available to us in later months.

Ava
